Pavers & Hardscape

Pavers & Hardscape

Paver driveways and patios that stay level

Pavers fail the same way turf does: from underneath. Settling, waves and separated joints come from a thin base, no compaction or a missing edge restraint — not from the pavers themselves.

We build the base to the load the surface will carry. A driveway that parks two cars is not a garden path, and it shouldn't be built like one.

Typical timeline

A patio or walkway usually runs three to five days; a full driveway five to eight, more when existing concrete has to be demolished and hauled off.

What's included

The scope, in plain terms

Design and layout

Paver style, pattern, color blend and border laid out against the house and existing hardscape before anything is ordered.

Excavation and base

Excavation to the depth the use requires, geotextile fabric where soils call for it, and compacted aggregate base in lifts.

Driveways

Deeper base sections and thicker paver units for vehicle loads, with the approach and garage transition detailed correctly.

Patios and walkways

Outdoor living areas, side yards, pool surrounds and entry paths, with slope carried away from the foundation.

Edges and joints

Concrete or polymer edge restraint at every free edge, plate compaction, and polymeric joint sand to lock the field and slow weeds.

Walls and steps

Seat walls, low retaining walls, planters and steps built from matching block and capped to finish the space.

Questions

What homeowners ask about pavers & hardscape

Pavers or poured concrete?+

Concrete is cheaper up front and cracks in straight lines. Pavers cost more, flex with ground movement, and can be lifted and reset in one spot instead of replacing a whole slab.

Will weeds grow between them?+

Polymeric sand and a clean base dramatically reduce it, but no joint stays perfect forever. A sweep and an occasional top-up of joint sand is the maintenance.

Can you pave over my existing concrete?+

Sometimes, if the slab is sound and the added height doesn't create a threshold or drainage problem. When the slab is cracked or moving, overlaying it just moves the problem up two inches.
